   Filmmaker
   Aranda began his career with fantasy-horror films before producing Cambio de sexo (Change of Sex) (1976), a sensitive portrayal of an effeminate youth played by Victoria Abril. In La muchacha de las bragas de oro (The Girl in the Golden Panties) (1980) he both exploited the new freedom from censorship and portrayed the contrast between the older and newer Spains. He has since produced a variety of films, including thrillers like Fanny Pelopaja (Straw-Haired Fanny) (1984), the box-office success El Lute, comina o revienta (Run For Your Life) (1987) and an adaptation of Luis Martin Santos" Tiempo de silencio (Time of Silence) (1986). In 1992, he won the Goya Prize for best direction and best film for Amantes (Lovers) (1991).
